Redbird fans were in heaven last night at the me & thee. Three quarters of Redbird appeared on our stage to a very large and enthusiastic audience. So as the guys said…it was indeed a quorum. Since Kris Delmhorst opened our season, I guess we can certify ourselves at the me & thee as Rabid Redbird Supporters.

Jeffrey opened the evening with a full set accompanied by David “Goody” Goodrich. He performed many of the songs off of “Ghost Repeater” including an extended version of the title cut. Awesome. Jeffrey explained that many of his songs are sad and that he actually only has written two upbeat songs, both of which we also got to hear. Nothing wrong in singing sad songs, especially when you can play and sing like Foucault. Peter joined Jeffrey to end the set and to whet people’s appetites for the next set.

Mulvey’s set included everything you’ve become accustomed to receiving at one of his shows. A dash of traditional music, a splash of something contemporary, several humorous anecdotes about life on the road with and without Goody. Peter also explained the Big Lie contest that he and Jeffrey have going — to see who can get the biggest lie about the other. They’re both tied this week if you count the tall tale in Jeff’s Q and A on this very blog and the story that Peter told about meeting Jeff selling outrageously wild inventions in the middle of the desert.

Counting the smiles and feeling the enthusiasm of everyone leaving the coffeehouse last night was a reward unto itself. Thanks to all for coming and having a great time. Acoustic music is alive and well in Marblehead.
