Sarah Blacker & the Light
Cara Brindisi opens
The Me&Thee presents the 2024 New England Music Awards ‘Performer of the Year” Sarah Blacker and the Light on Friday, February 28th at 8pm. Blacker has toured nationally and internationally, playing to sold-out shows throughout the U.S and Germany. She’s been called “her own artist” by the Huffington Post and the Patriot Ledger coined her music as “soaring folk gospel.”
Concert starts at 8:00 pm

Blacker’s band features Aaron Z. Katz of Percy Hill on drums and percussion, Phil Selesnick on keys and bass, Mark Lipman and Danielle Lovasco on backing vocals. Black and her trio released Live at Rockport Sundays which features three of her most popular singles which were recorded live at the legendary Tom Rush studio in Kittery, Maine.
Blacker is also a psychotherapist and a Board-certified music therapist who isn’t shy to explore the soulful depths of human existence within her lyrics, providing honesty, a touch of sarcasm and always much hope in her songs and stories.
While she is regularly compared to Joni Mitchell for her unique harmonic twists and vocals, she arrives with a side of classic rock and jazz. Blacker was raised on Pink Floyd, CSNY, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Phil Collins and the songwriters of the ’90s including Tracy Chapman (who played at the Me&Thee) and Sarah McLachlan. She then went to study jazz vocals at Berklee College of Music.
Blacker opened for Patty Larkin at a sold-out show at the Me&Thee last November and we welcome her back as the headliner on February 28th.
