Mason Daring & Jeanie Stahl

Mason Daring is a noted film and TV composer who wrote his first film score in 1980 for legendary director John Sayles’s first film, The Return of the Secaucus Seven. From there, Mason wrote the scores for all of Sayles’s films as well as scores for films for Showtime, PBS’s Nova and Frontline and numerous other television shows and films.

Jeanie Stahl is a premier vocalist who was featured on Masterpiece Theater as well as in numerous films and solo recordings. Their interests have always reflected a broad range of styles, from classic songs of the 30s and 40s to contemporary folk, country and original tunes. Their signature song, “Marblehead Morning,” was a regional hit and is still considered a sort of anthem for this historic seaport town.

Daring and Stahl were part of the “Passim All Stars” for years, which included clarinetist Billy Novick, guitarist Guy Van Duser, violinist Stuart Schulman and the late singer/songwriter Bill Staines.

  • There remains a magic in their collaboration. Steve Morse, Boston Globe
