WUMB's Top 10 CDs of the Year
 by Kathy S-B  ·  12 January 2007

Mark Erelli album cover

1. Mark Erelli: Hope and Other Casualties
We had the pleasure of hosting Mark AND Kris Delmhorst at this year’s season opener! Way to go, Mark!

2. Bruce Springsteen: The Seeger Sessions
Hey, da Boss made my list this year too. I have to admit: I’ve only seen Bruce once and that was at Winterland in San Francisco—the month that legendary venue closed down in 1978. Bruce was promoting “Darkness on the Edge of Town” at that time. That concert was a pivotal night in my concert-attending “career.” I’ve stayed away from seeing Bruce again because I am not sure I want to challenge that magical memory.

3. Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer: Seven is the Number.
Tracy graced the stage at the me & thee last fall. A big round of applause to Tracy for compiling and enhancing these last recorded songs of Dave Carter.

4. Ollabelle: Riverside—the Battle Songs
Ollabelle rocks. I played their first CD until it practically wore out. Guess it’s time to plug this one into my player.

5. The Duhks: Migrations
The Duhks are an extraordinarily gifted band of musicians. Haven’t seen them since they jammed the night away at Summerfest a couple of summers ago. Working on getting them to Marblehead for sure!

6. Red Molly: Never Been to Vegas—Live
First heard about this talented trio from a friend in New York. One listen and I knew they had to come to the me & thee. Look for them this April with Bill Staines! I guarantee that you’ll be blown away.

7. Crooked Still: Shaken by a Low Sound
The me & thee has hosted two of Crooked Still’s members in the past—Aiofe O’Donovan and Rushad Eggleston. They’ve gone on to bigger venues and bigger audiences these days. Check them out. You won’t regret it.

8. Chris Smither: Leave the Light On
Chris is a me & thee favorite and has played on our stage numerous times. Always a delight and we’re thrilled that this new CD has received such high acclaim.

9. Bob Dylan: Modern Times
I should have added this to my top list for the year. Bob is back, not that he ever left!

10. The Kennedys: Songs of the Open Road
Pete and Maura Kennedy make me smile from ear to ear. It’s impossible not to have a good time while listening to them. Pete Kennedy plays so many instruments so well. I recently witnessed him playing keyboards for the first time and was astounded by his Jerry Lee Lewis moves. ;-) This CD includes an interesting assortment of cover tunes that the Kennedys have enjoyed singing and playing over the years. “Eight Miles High” is worth the price of the CD alone.
