Greg Greenway / Kim & Reggie Harris on September 21
 by Cliff Garber  ·  22 September 2007

I went to an inspirational concert last night, and I would highly recommend both the venue (the Me and Thee Coffeehouse in Marblehead) and this particular combination of performers-it was a split bill with Kim & Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway (all Summer Acoustic Music Week instructors, of course).

I found out that Reggie and Greg are self-described best friends, united in their commitment to social justice, fighting racism, and healing through music. They played in the round, and-because they know each other’s music-they sang in luscious three-part harmony on every song. It was very moving and musically breathtaking. I have rarely experienced the spontaneity and truth that I saw last night. And rarely have the performers themselves seemed so moved.

It was my first trip to the Me and Thee. The town of Marblehead couldn’t be any more charming, the building is simply gorgeous, and the room was beautiful, cozy, and had great acoustics. The concert was far from full, and I imagine that they would welcome more music lovers at their concerts. (Surprisingly though, the energy level of the audience was really high, as if it were a packed room.)

I have no personal connection with the Me and Thee. I just wanted to share this extraordinary experience with my SAMW friends. I encourage you to check out the Me and Thee — and to see Kim, Reggie, and Greg sing together if you ever get a chance.
