Early Hoots
 by Cliff Garber  ·  7 March 2007

Artist Roster, 1974

I thought you might appreciate seeing a few pages from the me and thee’s booking book from 1974–1976. As you can see we were doing hoots back then, and continued hosting Open Hoots once or twice a year for many years. It would be true to say that this is the first Open Mike in many (many) years, but most certainly is not the first.

Bob Simons hosted the hoots for most of the early years. He not only hosted our hoots, but also was one of two members, Jim King being the other of the Watkins Marsh Bump Shop that opened the me and thee (its first act) in the fall of 1968.

Carol (Thompson) and I played at several of those Hoots, but the snowy ski slopes of the North Country have our attention this year.

Chuck Scheffreen, Self declared Volunteer Emeritus after spending almost every Friday night at the me and thee for 21 consecutive seasons (we were a staff of five for the first 15 years)
