You can say whatever you want about Cris Williamson, but what is so truly wonderful about her is that she is so very real. She is who she is and she makes no bones about it. She’s a 60 year old singer-songwriter who never set out to write anthems, just plain old songs that celebrated life without ‘pronouns.’ As it turns out, her songs spoke not only to the women who were embarking on the rough and sometimes rowdy road of feminist issues in the 1970s but to others who heard her words and appreciated her for her wonderful tunes with elegantly sincere lyrics and moving melodies.
For those of us who were honored by her presence at the me & thee last night, you know what a special evening it was. Cris spoke about many topics that were near and dear to her heart including the current government and its leaders, nature, the importance of family and perhaps the biggest message is to remember that we’re all community. Last night’s show as much a concert as it was a prayer service. Word has it that people came from as far away as Ohio and Long Island for this show. Yes, that’s community and everyone was seemed to be basking in Cris Williamson-dom last night. Feel free to comment on any highlights that you may have the show. We’d love to hear from you!
