16th Annual Performing Songwriting Competition at the Rose Garden Coffeehouse
 by Kathy S-B  ·  14 March 2008

I promised Mac McLanahan of the Rose Garden Cofffeehouse that I’d put a special announcement on our blog to let you all know about the upcoming Performing Songwriting Competition on May 17. I’ve been asked to be one of the judges for this year’s contest and I’m delighted to pass this information along to all of you singer-songwriter types!

Rose Garden Coffeehouse

April 15 is Tax Day, but much more importantly it is the due date for entries into the 16th Annual Performing Songwriting Competition at the Rose Garden Coffeehouse in Mansfield, MA. Three finalists will be selected to appear on stage on May 17 to determine the winner, just in advance of the feature performance by Cheryl Wheeler. We already know there will be a huge audience for this show.

This year, the winner will receive a $100 cash prize, a featured concert during the 2008-2009 Rose Garden season, and a stage appearance this summer at the immensely popular Great Waters Folk Festival on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, NH. Headliners at that event July 25-27 include Pure Prairie League, The Waybacks, Catie Curtis, Jonathan Edwards, and many others.

Entry forms and submission details are available at www.rosegardenfolk.com under the “contest” tab. Give us your best shot and we’ll look forward to hearing from you! As always, there is no entry fee required.

—Mac McLanahan, Artistic Director
