Cheryl Wheeler [canceled]

special guest: Kenny White

We regret that the Cheryl Wheeler show at the Me&Thee has been canceled.

Cheryl is confronting some serious mental health challenges and has been admitted to an in-patient treatment facility for an indefinite period.

Cheryl apologizes for the inconvenience but is currently incapable of taking on the strain of performing to the standard her fans deserve. It is her sincere hope that she’s able to return soon. However, in the meantime she appreciates your thoughts and well wishes as she seeks the treatment she needs at this critical moment.

We thank you for your kind understanding,

Cheryl Wheeler Management

(This public announcement is authorized by Cheryl Wheeler and her management team. The Me&Thee will be closed on Oct. 7th)

Cheryl Wheeler

Cheryl is a natural storyteller who brings you into her world of love and loss, of beautiful small-town America and the life of a traveling performer. Her comedic chops have been described as “Groucho-in-a-housecoat” where she shreds the mores of greedy, trend-obsessed culture but aims many of the darts squarely at herself.

As the late Scott Alarik wrote, “Wheeler emerges as a gifted and open-hearted songwriter approaching the sure summit of her craft. Her abiding faith in her audience’s ability to find their own life reflected in the sweet spaces of her songs reveals an artist comfortably wearing the austere genius that defines folk music’s best traditions.”

Kenny White

Opening the evening is New York City-based singer-songwriter, studio musician and writer Kenny White. Kenny has worked with numerous artists including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Gladys Knight, Linda Ronstadt, Ricky Scaggs and Mavis Staples. He has written and produced hundreds of TV and radio commercials and numerous well-known film soundtracks including four films with indie director John Sayles. White tours the UK and Europe every spring and was awarded the International Songwriting Award at the Premio Ciampi Music Festival in Livomo. Italy.

He’s opened shows for many mainstays including Cowboy Junkies, Peter Wolf, Shawn Colvin and Jonathan Edwards. Kenny also appears on dozens of recordings of other musicians, including Marc Cohn’s platinum debut. His latest album, Long List of Priors, is a collection of indelible snapshots of the human condition from heart wrenching to hilarious.
